Selling is definitely one of the areas that most photographers hate… That and actually talking to clients either in person or on the phone. It can really intimidating to talk about selling your work and just trying to sell yourself in general. Unfortunately, the reality is that we HAVE to be able to sell our work if we want to be in business. I know it’s harsh to come right out and say it, but it’s the truth. We need to understand that we are small business owners who happen to be photographers, and selling is part of the job.
But, as uncomfortable as it can be to sell our work, we can make it painless and let it sell itself… How do we do this? We can do this by creating a sales strategy that starts with the first point of contact and carries through all the way to the ordering appointment. In this week’s episode I’m going to talk about one of the most important appointments you can have with your clients – a consultation (or as I like to call it a Planning Session).
A planning session offers you a great opportunity to start selling your work without being pushy. And, if you listen to your clients you can create products with them in mind that will practically sell themselves.
It’s worth a listen!
